Colophon

How it was made.

The work

Knowware: Systems of Intelligence is a book in the form of a structured intelligence synthesis. Nine chapters. 81 voices. One argument: that coordination, not computation, is the defining problem of our moment.

Written and constructed by Khayyam Wakil. Published by The ARC Institute of Knowware.

The site

Built with Astro — fully prerendered, zero client-side frameworks, no tracking. Typography: JetBrains Mono (monospace), Helvetica Neue (display/body). Palette: navy #191938, cream #EDEEE4, signal #2F55E0.

The bar-field that appears on the cover and throughout the site is a generative CSS rendering of the physical book's printed field — two repeating-linear-gradients, no images. The signal line (blue) draws in on load via a single CSS animation.

Third-party resources

JetBrains Mono is self-hosted from this domain with font-display: swap. No third-party font requests. No analytics. No cookies. No share pixels. Sharing uses navigator.share, the clipboard, and plain links to each network's own share page. Nothing loads from those networks until a reader clicks one.

The 82nd line

Readers who contribute a named voice before the deadline receive a permanent credit line in the colophon and an acknowledgement in the book's back matter. Contribute a voice →
